Analysis of the Application of RV Gearbox in Automated Parking Systems


In daily life, cars have become an essential means of transportation for everyone. While cars have brought great convenience to our travel, the increasing popularity of cars has led to parking difficulties, which have become a social issue. To meet the parking needs of the public, underground automated parking systems have emerged. Gearboxes, as a type of transmission mechanism, are one of the key technical components in automated parking systems.

So, which type of gearbox is primarily used in automated parking systems?

Currently, the commonly used gearboxes in the market for automated parking systems include RV gearboxes, planetary gearboxes, and AGV wheel groups. Here, I will mainly explain RV gearboxes. RV gearboxes are developed based on traditional needle thread and needle wheel gearboxes. They not only overcome the disadvantages of general pendulum transmission but also have many advantages, such as long lifespan, stable precision, high efficiency, smooth transmission, compact size, light weight, and a wide range of reduction ratios.
They adopt a double-support support mechanism and a needle wheel mechanism, which allows the product to withstand torque up to six times the rated torque without damage, exhibiting high torsional rigidity. They have small clearance, compact size, and high torque. To directly support larger loads, they are equipped with main bearings (large angular contact ball bearings) internally.

Equipped with radial thrust ball bearings, which can support external loads. They have high torque rigidity and allow for a reduction in the number of constituent parts.

  • Slower revolution speed of gears reduces vibration and minimizes inertia in the motor's direct coupling section.

Dual-column support structure:

  • High torsional rigidity.
  • Strong resistance to impact.
  • The crankshaft is supported by dual columns in the gearbox.

Rolling contact mechanism:

  • Excellent starting power.
  • Low wear and long lifespan.
  • Small clearance (1 arc-minute).
Currently, the global market demand for automated parking systems is experiencing rapid growth. As a core component of the transmission mechanism in automated parking systems, RV gearboxes will play a greater role in providing convenience to humans and improving production efficiency in the future.
